I’ve been using this app for about a month or so and love the ability to stick windows to corners, fullscreen or half screen (like in Windows) is great. I recently switched from a Microsoft Surface Pro 3 to a Macbook Air 13” and this was one of the features I was missing from Windows. Please keep up the great work Magnet Support.
As a medical student, having mutliple windows open and organized is critical and simply put, the macOS split view function does not fit the bill. Magnets is a great app as it allows for more side-by-side window functionality: (1) four by four window snapping, (2) easy to use, just drag to the edge of the desktop or a corner, (3) portrait and landscape snapping, and (4) windows can be viewed side by side on a normal desktop (unlike macOS split view).
I had a another window management app that I thought was great. Cost me much, much more for two licenses through their website. I added a third computer to my network and balked at shelling out again. I figured that I couldn’t lose at $1, so I bought Window Magnet. It does everything I use the other app for (and more, in certain areas). I removed the other app on the other computers and installed Window Magnet on them. Update 11/20/16: I was having the issue that Sierra brought - Magnet asked for a review several times a day. That issue has been fixed with this update.
This is one of my facorite apps and I personally it should really just be a feature built into MacOS but Magnet is agreat app worth the every single penny of the small asking price. If you use Windows or are a long time PC user this will make resizing, snapping and maximizing windows feel natural and easy.
9/10 would recommend
A simple concept with a big impact. I work on a series of three separate screens and this app has made organizing them an absolute breeze!
App works as advertised, but its also nagware and pops up boxes to tell to you write review. Amazing annoying.
I like the snapping functionality. But I am very displeased with how unreliable dragging to snap is. It works maybe 30% of the time if that. So I often need to use hotkeys, or click the little icon up top to position a window which really breaks up my workflow.
I am use to using windows which has the snap feature built in. After switching to mac I was surprised that it didnt have anything like it, until I found this app. This should be included but have no issues paying $.99 for this
Not sure what to say besides the fact that the built in windows management in macOS is subpar at best. This app is worth every penny, for those of us needed to open multiple windows. Especially helpful if you have a high res monitor and need to compare files, or if you’re like me, a researcher looking at data from multiple sources.
Automatic window layout is common on the Linux and Windows systems that I use for work. Magnet provides similar functionality for macOS making optimizing the use of multiple large wide screens simple and flawless. Bravo Zulu.
very productive app. so efficent and handy that i decided to use short keys as well. it brought so much value to my overall macos experience.
Sometimes your workflow includes moving windows around yourself as part of your thought processes. Sometimes it doesn’t. Magnet let’s you choose — I love it!
This app is really useful for people when you need to use two apps at the same time. Easy to copy text or watch two things at the same time without having to switch windows/desktops. When you use a program and the window changes size, you just drag it to your desired place and it automatically adjustes size. I use it every single day. 100% recommend.
I have a very large desktop and Magnet does not recognize the true resolution. For example, it thinks the “Left” position is in the middle of the desktop.
I don’t have many apps for my Mac, but this one is used the most and very helpful.
macOS Sierra already has this. You can long click on the green circle of a window to use two apps, and use Picture in Picture for a Youtube video. This would only be useful if for some reason you would need to have four windows open at once. And I never do.
This app only works with keyboard shortcuts. Dragging windows to edges doesn’t do anything.
Like a lot of people, I’d been missing the “snap” feature that I knew from Windows 7. This is a great solution, and an absolute bargain. My one wish would be for Magnet to recognize when you’re using multiple monitors, and let you snap to both sides of both monitors. But maybe that’s too much to ask for. (I don’t think Windows works that way either.
